A turning point in LIfe - MyLDS 2009

There’s this part of my life that I just want to share with you, because it had really made a difference and totally changed my mind set. Something else about it is that the change in my life just happened only a few hours ago, so frames of the moment are still captured clearly in my mind.

So I’ll begin with the day itself, woke up as usual, put on my contacts, styled my hair, which I just cut it a week ago, but through rapid growth rate, I got a hair forest on top of my head already.

So, basically we’re all gathered here to go for a National Conference, MyLDS 2009 (Malaysia Leadership Development Seminar)! Hearing from my seniors, MyLDS is always a turning point where their life changes entirely.

This year, UUM is hosting it, so, delegates from all around Malaysia will be gathering at the upmost north of the country, for us peeps in KL, the journey itself is a 7-hour bus ride!! We took off around 2pm, with that, we just made our first step towards MyLDS!!

When we reached UUM, it was almost 12am, and unfortunately for some of the delegates, who didn’t do this earlier, they have to stay up a bit longer to fill up some survey to get a general category of where they belong in terms of personality, so that we will be clear of who we really are, to really understand our strengths and weaknesses.

The next day, and the 1st day of MyLDS, we have an unexpected guest who is previously an AIESECer as well, and made most out from it, and her role in this National Conference is something like the Head Facilitator.

What we AIESECers love most is Roll Calls!! It‘s like cheers and we do lots of line dancing, or known as square dance in AIESEC. I learnt some pretty fun and cool ones, being pumped up by the songs, it really does get your body moving!!

After the self discovery sessions, Gala Dinner was up next! Everybody was trying to look their best, and truly enough they did! Guys are smart with their shirts tucked in, and hair above their head would be very neat or attractive in some cases. Ladies on the other hand are simply dazzling, from the heels they painfully sacrificed their feet to be both taller and sexier, up to the amazing gowns and dresses they put on to entertained the crowd, lots of ladies from my LC (Local Committee) really smack jaw-dropped expressions of the guys faces, which means something really good. I bet they will smack their faces on walls or poles if they are walking if any of our ladies happened to passed by them.

Lots of photos taken, lots of feet aching, sweats in the air after our intense dance out and posing for the cameras. Tiring night – day 1

One thing about the morning is the shower. Cold water in the morning is something I have to get used to. Breakfasts are getting cuter each day, why? Because of the way people are eating it. Instead of taking out the cutlery we packed which is intended to use during meals, we starting squeezing the meals out from the plastic bags which contains it. So it’s like eating bread, but instead of bread, it is mee or mihun! Very funny looking at how people eat right from the plastic bags, some of them which I saw where the noodles can fly to all parts of the face.

During the noon till evening is how one would fit in nicely in a group while working with all sorts of different kinds of personality, it’s really an eye opener. After dinner was connection time! This is like a sharing session, but the people who are sharing are amazing people who gone through experiences like no other. I was one of the listeners to Geraldine Sandra Sebastian. People around here called her Sandy. She intended to be a chemist, somebody who will be in the lab day in day out, mixing chemicals and stuffs, and she worked in Carlsberg for a short duration of time too, but when she tried that out, she found out it was simply too boring for her, like a bird trapped in a cage, she knows something out there has more fun and challenging waiting for her.

She was an AIESECer as well, and during then, AIESEC was the only route out for her besides her studies, and Sandy was in the External Relations department, where she will be meeting important people from major companies in the corporate world, and she meets them to sell the GTP (Global Talent Program – which focuses on bringing international interns to work in the company.) However, as she was doing that, she’s also making her mark in the industry too, she’s blessed with a very nice pair of lips, so she converses very well with the corporate manager, and leaving an impression that wouldn’t be forgotten that easily. By the time she was about the graduate, she was offered with jobs from companies she had made contact with during the past.

Other facts about her is that, through AIESEC, she has travelled lots and lots of places around the globe, and having great chances to meet great people from the four corners of the world. How did she do that? Through the connections she made with the companies and such, she’s able to get some financial aid from here and there, at the end, she has enough for her to attend International Conferences that’s happening everywhere. Learning about how she does this is really awesome and at the same time, you can see how AIESEC really provides opportunities to people who grabbed on to it.

After that session, it was CUP NOODLE Party! Adding a twist to it, chosen delegates will be sculling with it. “Sculling” is something like swallowing or finishing the drink as soon as possible in a group with specific rules set. One of them are, thumbs are not to leave the table, and avoiding spillage will be better for the group. Here’s how the thing starts, 1, Thumbs on the table~ ( the crowd will say after it) 2, Chins on the table~, 3, Eyes on the cup~ 4, one, two, SCULL~!
The crowd will be cheering (ikki ikki ikki, ai ai ai) repeatedly for morale purposes~! This was my 1st times sculling, but not the 1st time seeing one, I haven’t got the chance to be involved in it the 1st time I seen it, so I was telling myself, *this is it, another chance just appeared and I better grab it before I regretted like last time.* Something to be proud of is that LCTUC got into the finals! And I was the last sculler for the team! Basically, swallowing down Maggie mee is a bit of a challenge, some can just gulped it down, I need to take a chew or twice to stuff in down my throat. So, in the end, we were the 1st runner up! Maggie mee soup was on my hair too.

The next day – day 3, a more challenging task is awaiting us delegates, because we’re having our own version of “The Apprentice”! The leader of each group has to oversee everything, and distribute the tasks accordingly to the subgroup leaders and such, all in all, communication is crucial. The group who can communicate among each other the best would be the winner, at the end of the session, every group member has to think of a unique way of selling their products, and it is very entertaining to listen to people desperately selling their products who even took to an exaggerated extent.

Fourth day here! This was one of my favourite days, the day that I was truly inspired!

Our first speaker, Joel Neoh, a person who has always seeks out for more challenges and obstacles, and overcome them. He came to talk to us about entrepreneurship and how he started off and such. He started his speech by telling us who he is. From age 0 – 6, he claimed it as his carefree life, where every day is another day to play. 6-18 was the stage of life where he is just being studious, as what his parents wanted him to do, get a promising job with a fixed income. But then he thought to himself, saying he this is going to be a bit boring, so he took up rock climbing, and ended up getting a national rock climber recognition as well. After that, he went on pursuing an Engineering Degree, but soon later, he got bored again, and ventured into the modeling world. As expected, he did great in it as well, getting front covers on Men’s Health Magazine and posing for Levi’s Jeans. After he got a degree in Engineering, his mom immediately framed it up, before he could get a chance to photocopy it, and now it’s hanging by one of his walls.

One of his amazing experiences was being a part of “The Firm”, (something like Malaysia’s The Apprentice) There’s only two teams throughout the reality show, which is Team Dynamic and Team Momentum. Wherever Joel goes, that team will win, which is very impressive, he is the one who really sets the bar up higher, always wanting to climb greater heights than anybody else, and with that, he was the winner of “The Firm”. Some of us asked him, what’s the difference between vision and goal? The night before we discussed the difference between both of them, Vision – something might or might not be achieved and long term, Goals – something short-term, stepping stones for one to reach one’s vision. However, he gave us quite a shock, and laughter, when he answered, “There is nothing different between the both of them” “Visions, Goals, they are something you head towards, it’s just a different saying” After that, we had a little brainstorm on future products , regarding to the marketing needs, and I found out that, he’s thinking is really effective, he likes it to be direct, eg, a + b = c Which is easier for us (clients) to understand and them to focus on. This is something that I must learn from him, to keep my goals clear, so it is easier to aim for it!

Up next we have HIV/AIDS talk. After the session, we were crystal clear about the causes, transmissions and effects of HIV to the society. Message wanted to be sent from the speakers is the importance of safe sex. But there’s more to it. An inspirational sharing from one of the speakers brought tears to eyes and hearts of the people listening to it. The person had everything, wealth, power, snazzy attire, anything he wanted in life. One day, because of a wrong decision made, changed his life totally, and his perspective to life changed majorly as well. Being HIV positive, he’s more positive than anybody else, he lives the next day like another day being blessed upon. He wouldn’t want anybody else to make the mistake he did, so now he’s is one of the people in Pink Triangle. Spreading awareness to the youth which has the highest percentage of being infected with HIV.

Last but not least, Peter came from America spoke with us about the Environmental Sustainability. This is one of the talks that got us really thinking of the repercussions we’ve made when we’re unaware of. The Earth is slowly crumbling, the most logical solution for now is to conserve and preserve the Earth’s richest resources: Our Environment, Habitats for the Animals, and gifts born from the soil of Mother Earth. Example, a nice looking radio in green which cost let say, RM 4.99. You will walked past the shelf that was displaying it, and thought, “Wow, isn’t this a bit cheap for a radio like that” What the public is unaware of would be the materials gathered to manufacture this product is from all around the world, the plastic from petroleum, the metals from the soil, the assembling of the unit from another place in the world. That sounds like lots of money spent, but why does it only cost RM 4.99. Well, the price is already paid, through the deterioration of nature herself. We also pledge for a sustainable world by reducing the use of Polystyrene Foam. (Styrene is a possible human carcinogen – WHO) We were made to shout out the one little thing we could do to achieve the sustainable world, like “Reducing the use of Polystyrene, or Reduce the waste of Paper!” Little things like that may seem insignificant, but when the efforts are gathered in a large scale, an impact is made.

The next day was something that place high importance in AIESEC, the election of Member Committee President! I was among the lucky spectators who got the chance to be a witness to such significant process happening in AIESEC. One thing I gained from the candidates of the President is their passion towards the change they are going to make when they got the seat of President. A very inspiring to see them go all out for what they believe and to be done in the later future, with everyone supporting their goals, to bring that Vision that we all will share into reality.

That night, the 5th night, Global Village is here! Each LC is in charge of a country in the world, and we are to present them to the other delegates. Love to see the efforts put into the task given, in terms of the costume, the booth, the awesome presentations. It’s really an eye opener.

The Last day of MyLDS has arrived! Gosh, aren’t we sad about parting so soon. Something this great coming to an end will bring tears to faces.

To conclude this documentary, qualities I’ve learnt throughout this wonderful 6 days:

Communication among people – Team Activities

Grabbing Opportunities in life – Sandy

Having Clear Goals and Challenging something more – Joel

Being Positive and Optimistic in Life – HIV speaker

Being Aware of the Surrounding – Environmental Speaker, Peter

Passion towards something believed strongly – Candidates of MCP Election

What are we? Youth!

Where were we? MyLDS 2009, UUM, Kedah!!

What are we going to do? To create a positive impact in the society!!!

Who are we??? AIESECers!!!!!!

Raining, Pouring, Updating.

Wow, with a blink of the eye,
November has arrived~!

Scorpios and Sagittariuses~!
Finally, It is our month now~!

Due to the exams been going on in my side of life,
the bluewarmth lost its heat, its flame, slowly fading..

Speaking of flames fading away..
Can you believe the weather nowadays in Malaysia?
Both East and West side has downpours everywhere..

This gloomy weather always gets my mood..
reminds me of that certain person..
when I was venturing into teenage life across the seas..

Hope she's doing fine as well.. Take care of yourself more, don't let the weather weakened you physically. =D

Started being more involved in an International Youth Organization that I've joined recently.
AIESEC rocks =)

And, snapped a few shots here and there..

I managed to explode my Rubik's cube as well..

Oh well..

Counting down the days for something magical to happen.

Friday of the august ^^

14th of August,
well.. It is a memorable day to this writer ^^
let's start when the day breaks then..
Woke up~ eyes were red with fatigue..
When for a shower.. Came out to listen to a very uplifting spirit album..
Had a feeling that today is going to be a good day..

When to school early, went loitering with a darling.. Ran through some physics points for a test i will be sitting for 30mins later.

Test ended, and 1 by 1, the lessons ended too..

Now, a planned journey was about to start..

went over to the box, to switch bags and all.. Invited a guest along..
Kinda embarassed about the clutter and the mess in that room though..
Next was lunch! My second favourite meal of the day..
Went to a restaurant to fill the empty void in the tummy..
Had some nice peach tea~
mmm~ so refreshing..
And a chic. chop.
Rating given~ 7/10..
Had to use the little boy's room after that..
Was located upstairs..
Shocked to see what's in waiting for me though..

Walked up, was empty.. Deserted~ unused and dusty tables.. With chairs stacked on them.. Typical setting of a zombie game scene..
Giving me the creeps.. >.<
and there was flickering lights as well..

Continued my journey to klang..
Walked to the train station..
1st unexpected event of the day..
Speakers turned on, 'The train will be delayed for an hour' gosh..
So.. Took out my earphones and indulge in a lil music..

'chook chook chook' train just arrived..
Boarded into it..

(still in the music zone)
2nd unexpected event of the day..
The train that we were boarding, wont be going to where it was supposed to..
So.. We were made to wait for the next train, at the next stop..

3rd unexpected event of the day,
the duration of time spent at the stop that we were made to get off..

we waited.. And waited.. And i sweated.. And waited.. (well.. You know how the cycle continues)
my host's father was waiting for us at the expected drop off stop.. Under the scorching sun..
Then the lil sweetheart (host) ask her father to use the newspaper to cover his legs..
(such an adorable conversation) ^^

When we reached her abode, wow, my jaws were left opened, such a cool place to live in.
There’s a nice and very modern layout, with a touch of tradition in it.

Ate very sweet pitaberry ^^
Stared at her very nice collection of trophies at her personal trophy case =D
Did some homework,
Got some tutoring.
Very helpful thanks to the great tutor.

Got a little snooze too..
A very refreshing nap =D

Woke up, just in time for dinner.
As I walked down the stairs,
The aroma of the meal slowly makes it way to the sensory cells in my nose.
Stimulating my tummy to growl a lil too..
We’re having the famous bah kut the in Klang,
But this is just a bit better, because it’s homemade~!
Superb taste, and I have an extra fried egg..
My favourite food by the way,
Added my second helping too..
Simply delicious if I may add.

Gosh~
Finally~
Looked at my inbox,
Unread mail was 1.
The result for my interview is out,
It started with a..
“sorry, … … ( I was like, gosh~ I didn’t get it.. >.< )
Then followed on with a ( congratulations~!! )
Yay~
Ahaha..
That was a good day ^^

Had tons of fun.
And I arrive back at the train stop, raining,
Luckily there was this cab available,
But he didn’t stop in front of where I wanted too..
So, I still have to get wet a little and use the umbrella.
But all in all.
What a wonderful Friday ^^

Almost Awesome August!

Wow~
Can you believe it~
August is here already~ ^^

Let me list out the highlights of current happenings then,
as I munched on my wonderful loaf of bread called 'Butterscotch' and with a nice chilled 'Dutch Lady full cream milk' beside me. ( my breakfast )

Let start with one thing I liked the most~
Songs~!
Recently I got my hands on something called the 'Smart Music'.
Thankie to my supplier =)

It's really interesting to listen to~
and supposedly you will be smarter after listening to it..
( I think it's starting to work >.< )
It's sounds of nature, water~ insects~ and such..
soothing to the ears yet functional for the brain.. best of both worlds huh~

We recently was assigned to do a presentation on something relating to maths for our Further Math class..
and there was this special lady..
who always pushes to a further mile~
she was presenting pi ..
a ratio that keeps going on and on and on~ and she memorized up to the 43th decimal for this presentation!
So cool~
Well.. I'm not so bad either..
I can type sufficient digits of decimal places into my calculator enough to be recognized as pi
>.<

Then..
Our dear chemistry lecturer just had her birthday~
another year elder,
another year wiser,
another year prettier =D

And our class wished her in different languages =D
Chinese-Cantonese: Sun Yat Fai Lok!
Chinese-Mandarin: qu ni sheng er kuai le
French: Joyeux Anniversaire!
German: Alles Gute zum Geburtstag!
Italian: Buon Compleanno!
Japanese: Otanjou-bi Omedetou Gozaimasu!
Spanish: Feliz Cumpleaños!
Thai: Suk San Wan Keut!

>.<
and.. I'm getting a haircut later..
apparently my hair is so big..
that the people sitting behind me can't see the board..
(gosh~)

Edited~ Just came back form my Assessment Day~
( kinda fun >.< )
Group activities and all~
I'm a Falcon~
( ka kwah~)
and a TEAM PLAYER~!

umm~ oh yea..
the influenza is spreading crazily over here..
must watch out for people who cough, sneeze.. and all.. >.<
I have an increasing number of friends falling ill..
gosh~
but it's not serious enough to be the Influenza A..
symptoms are alike..
but it will subside in few days..
maybe is a side influenza. gosh~
people reading this..
please be careful~
practice good personal hygiene~!

July Is Here!!!

First of all..
oh my gosh~ so sorry I didn't update for such a long period of time~!!
Things happening around me kept me occupied..

So,
let me continue where I last left it =D
(in this case... it will be a long post) ^^

After that may..
was an intense study period.
for the upcoming semester exam =D
and and..
it ended up as I didn't do a pretty well job of it..
Sorry papa sorry mama.. =(

and then..
it was the holidays =D
you won't believe how fast time flies when you're enjoying the holidays..

so..
i had my own sweet time.. ^^
listened to new albums =D

went to the park =D
played some basketball
took some friends over..

and here we are..
back into my mundane routine again.. =D
will upload the visual evidences soon

Days Of May.

May day~!

=D

May is been very fun and interesting so far..
Let me brief you through my experiences I had so far..

May 1st!
Labour's Day!
a very nice holiday..
I get to relax myself in my humble, yet comfy abode..
Mmmm...
nice couch..
cozy bed..
sensationing.. =D
watched "Paul Blart : Mall Cop" during that night..
went with family =D
Entertaining show..

Very Funny..
=D

the next day..
May 2nd!
went out with my old gang..
monkey.. french girl.. french guy.. and leng zai..
=D

we went for a karaoke session..
in the morning..
seemingly cheaper..
had a blast.
became rabbits and consume carrots indulgently..
the nicest snacks ever!

then we went for Wolverine!!
Grrr~ Ah wuuu~~~
Freaking awesome...
Very very amazing..
Action-packed. period.

then.. I drove back home..
along with abducting my gang. =D
1st visit to my house.. for some..
played with my guard dogs..
woof woof~!

Monday, 4th May
This is the highlight so far..
=D
when for a party..
Yes.. my 1st one too..
semi-casual attire..
after I dressed up..
lydy commented, " Wui, you looked like a gangster..!"
gosh..
"A charming gangster"
=D

so..
when for the thing.
starts at 7pm.
arrived around 7.30pm.
people starting to buzz into the hall.
=D
I was accompanied with ah qii and her sweet looking friend too, Christine. =D
both dressed amazingly, i might add.
=D
then..
another two gentlemen joined us..
french guy and his housemate.
=D
also very nicely attired.

With that being said..
let the events..
start!
1st..
was the performance by Malaysia's BeatBoxer Champ.
I think.
He is.. Awesome!
Human BeatBoxer..
he is the background music.. and the vocals of the songs.
I was utterly amazed.
Shaun was his name.
=D
*buu chi buu chi*
=D

next~
Group Dancers performed on stage..
somewhere around my age..
very very entertaining.
guys were awesome..
break dancing on the stage..
Girls were an eye-catcher..
Fluid movements with a touch of sensuality..
Something.. I won't easily forget.
=D
Very very entertaining.

Lastly~!
Dance floor was open to the public!
"wuhoo"
yea..
I'm not much of a dancer..
but hey..
it did help me boost up my confidence.
enjoyed myself..
I would be one of those geeky guys dancing out.. =D
wanna try to mix in to the groups..
but got isolated from the main crowd..
a few charming ladies were there.
but with their companies..
so.. I don't dare to make a wrong move.
>.<
At least I caught their attention..
One way~ or another..
=)

May 5th..
Happy Birthday Kevin..

May 6th..
Tests!!!

May 7th..
Happy Birthday Noel..
Music and Physics Enthusiast.

May rocks.

Hair-y Day.

I can't believe how the image of one would affect their whole appearance..

For instance.. their hairstyles..
People generally recognize one with their hair...

So.. I did an experiment yesterday..
=D

This is how I would normally looked like,
a flame-like hairstyle..

Or also known as, something similiar to dragonball hair..

but then..
I changed into this hairstyle yesterday..
and see what are the responses I will get..

so..
let's start with the day..

Hmm..
After getting dressed and all..
along with stuffing my belly with some bread..
(yummy bread)

went to ah qii and lydy's house to walk with them to school..
1st reaction I got for the day is from lydy..

"oh my god, chee keen, what happen to your hair..?"
"You look so kiddish~"

and I was like.. "okay~"
then ah qii said, "he purposely did it that way.."

lydy thought I ran out of hair product.. thus resulting in the flattened hair..
(which is a lie)

then I went into the class..
the other classmates saw me..
"oh my gosh~~~"
(oh my gosh is common phrase in my class)

"chee keen, what happen to your hair..?"

"I ran out of hair gel today"

"Quickly run to the nearest 'Seven Eleven' to buy some lar"

"..."

My korean classmate, " hey, did you get a new hair cut..?"
"with a smirk on her face.."

then the others followed by..
there was a particular classmate who always wanted to see what it was like to have all my hair down..

"oh my gosh.. chee keen, nice wei~ look damn 'guai zai' "
"ehehem"

the funniest thing was the reaction from my lecturers..

my physics lecturer ( a very adorable one too..)
"eh, you today look so different aa.."
then she turn around to wipe the board..

when she turn around again..
"ehehe.. so different aa.. why your hair like that today..?"

I just smiled =D

then next was my chemistry lecturer.. ( a very young lecturer, and pretty one too.. which is also a genius.. O.o)

she stepped into the class as usual..
put her stuffs on her table..
then when she looked up,
"what happened to your hair?!"

O.o
that was kinda funny..

I have another friend who likes this kinda hairstyles..
the "mushroom hairstyles"
wonder she liked it or not..

but at the end.. when I was walking lydy back to her house..
"Chee Keen, I begged you, quickly buy some gel la.. I'm so not used to seeing this hairstyle.."
"very funny lar.." then she went chuckling all the way..

oh well..
it was a fun day =D

Bluewarmth.

You, Me and Lydy..

Just recently moved out from my comfort zone,
now out in the real world..
with strangers and isolation from the love and care from my family..

That's what it's like being out there..
but hey, we're gonna go through it sooner or later anyway..

Out here..
(by the way, it's the 4th day being independent already)
is kinda exciting and at the same time, needs to be adapted..

Meals are all on ourselves..
(basically the main problem.. always clueless on what to have for a meal next)

However, somehow fortunate to have some companions in the situations like this..
two little ladies..
One more clueless than the other..
Ah Qii and Lydy..

walking them back from dinner..
accompany them to school..
they should start paying my "body guarding" fees..

at least.. I'm not so alone being out here..

staying up late really costs dearly..
resulting in waking up late..
one thing good about it..
campus is just 2 minutes walk from my abode..

So.. really think twice or thrice before moving out..
=D

Ah xin~ make sure you're fine..
don't do things too harmful..

Ah ping~ how was today's outing with ah mao~
enjoying yourselves..?

Ah qii~ Don't let others get the better of you..
make sure you voice out your thoughts..

Shiney~ All the best to you and your shortened-hair

Fly High..

With a blink of an eye,
10 years just passed by.

he's been there through the thick and thin of life,
faced countless and various experiences,
but still, having room for more..

A head-strong, iron-willed personality,
with a touch of sensitivity.

has a great smile,
with a funky hair-do.

wanna be a tough guy,
and in the process of doing so..
showing results too.

all the best bro,
fly high, fly safely.

The path ahead may seem endless,
but with belief and faith,
guidance will be within you.

Shiner, do your job.
be one with the sky.

Let's see now..

Hmm..

Wow..
just two days ago..
my heart was pounding like it was gonna explode..
time did really slowed down during then..
people around me are nearly going nuts..
or some already did..
kinda felt happy that..
i saw all my ex-classmates.. ex-schoolmates..
and of course..
my beloved tutors..

thanks to all of you..
after i left that hell hole we can call it as high school...
i.. kinda missed it..
returning there really made me reminisced a lot about it..

now..
the time has arrived..
i saw tears flowing everywhere..
some are tears of joy..
some are tears of sorrow..

come on guys and girls..
time to take a step forward..
and chase after our dreams..!

thanks for creating such a lovely time for me to experience for the past 4 years..
=)
and to those special ones..
u know who u are..
thanks a lot.. =)
